Principal Mr. David Herman
Dear Families and Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you as the Acting Principal of Whitney M Young Jr. Community School. It is truly an honor to become a part of your school family and community. Even though I have only had limited interactions with the faculty and parents thus far, I can already tell that it is a unique and special place and I am incredibly excited about what is to come.
I come to you with 30 years of experience as an educator; however, I come from a family of educators and business professionals, so I have been around this profession all my life. My 30 years have been spent as a special education teacher, school technology coordinator, and most recently Vice Principal at William L. Dickinson High School. I believe wholeheartedly that every student deserves a quality education and that it only happens when the school and the families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind, I will be calling on all our faculty, staff, and you to work as a singular unit so we can best serve our children.
My first responsibility is to put our teachers in the best possible position to succeed, as they will, in turn, put our children in the best possible position to succeed.
