Challenge yourself this summer! Choose a Challenge from your Grade Level and complete by September 13th!

In order to access the activities/assignments, students must be signed in to their JCPS accounts.

Below the assignments are broken down by grade level but this link provides the information for each grade level and it can be accessed with the JCPSNJ.org email. The links within the document need to be accessed through your child's account.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief pdf and audiobook

Assignment 1: Compare and contrast Percy Jackson to another hero in mythology by completing the Venn Diagram. What makes these 2 heroes similar and different? Write as many similarities and differences you can between Percy and another hero. Give details about what makes them the same in the middle and details about what makes them different on the outside.
Assignment 2: Pick a scene from Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and illustrate it on poster board.
Report of the gods: Choose one of the gods in the story, "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" , research and write a report on that god.

7th Grade

English/Language Arts

Challenge 1	Students will read “War of the Worlds” and “The Fake News Phenomenon”. While reading they will complete a graphic organizer detailing the actions of the author that led to the chaos of the citizens. They will also answer questions about media bias and responsibility as it applies to War of the Worlds. Tier 1 Project
Challenge 2	Students will choose a biography about one famous woman from a list of possible book choices. They will summarize their life making sure to note important contributions. Tier 2 Project
Challenge 3	Students will read accounts of the Titanic and compare two stories to answer the critical thinking questions. Tier 3 Project

Additional Information

Students will return completed work to their 2021-2022 homeroom teacher by September 13th
Students who turn in all work will receive a certificate and a homework pass
The Summer activity project will be counted as a MP1 (quiz grade)
